Internet Search

The question that we were asked to search on google was " How do the democratic and republican positions on the fiscal cliff differ?" We started by capitalizing "AND" and adding quotation marks on fiscal cliff. We got a total of 36,800,000 results. To narrow our choices we changed the time settings to the past month and it lowered our results to 889,000. Then we started adding the minus sign search operation by taking out the things that were not related to the question. When we took out many things we had a total of 92,500 results. The last thing that we did was change the time settings to the past hour and it gave us 3 results. The search operations that worked the best were the quotation marks, caps lock, and the minus sign.

However there were some search operations that did not work well and gave me more results. We added the translate documents and it gave us a bigger number of results. It also depends on the time settings because if you have it on any time then there will be plenty of results. The more you are specific the  smaller number of results you will get.

Proposition 30

I found Proposition 30 very interesting because it helps education. Proposition 30 means that the state will  increase personal income taxes on high-income tax payers for seven years and sales taxes for four years. This Prop will prevent school cuts, provide funding for education and public safety, and balance the state budget.
The pros about Prop 30 is that students will have more funds for education. Students will benefit from the money that will be given to the schools. We will no longer have to worry about school budget cuts. Colleges will not have a short limited amount of student acceptance. If education gets more funds, public schools will have better resources for students.
I do not believe there is a lot of Cons about Prop 30, but many people believe that increasing more tax is not the answer and California is already one of the highest tax rates . Other people believe that the money will not actually go to education.
If I could vote, I would say YES to Prop 30, because I do not like school budgets and things would be better for students to receive a good education without worrying about not having the resources needed to have a good education. The tax increase will not be permanent and I believe that it will have a positive result.

The Canterbury Tales (Man of Law)

If I lived in the middle ages I would be a successful lawyer like the man of law. The man of law is commissioned by the king. He knows everything about England's Laws. My job would be at court working as a lawyer and fighting for justice. If there were any challenges that I would face it would probably be problems with the people of town. If I do not work hard enough to make the suspect innocent, the towns people would be angry at me because the person they care about would have to face the consequences.

My family life would be like any normal family. I would probably be a litttle strict with my kids so that they will follow the rules and not commit any crimes. I would also teach my family about justice and doing what is right. I would be respectful to the world around me. I would care for others like if they were my own family. I would probably have military training if I became an officer.

My values and morals would be to obey the laws and never commit a crime. I would follow all the rules and set a good role model. My plans for the future would be to work hard and earn good money to help my kids become successful like me.

My American Dream

My American Dream is to live a happy life where I own a car and a house. I want to be financially stable and have a full-time job. I want to be able to support my family and have two to three children. Being able to afford a living is very important because I don’t want to worry about not having enough money. To achieve my dream I know that I have to be determined and ready to work.
In order to achieve my dream, I have to continue my education after high school. Having a degree is very important when looking for a job because most of the well paid jobs require a college degree. According to the article “Generation Screwed”, the main problem is that college graduates can not find a job that suits their field. Incomes earned by graduates have dropped and they are now competing with high school graduates for basic jobs. This article makes it seem like college is not important. However, if graduate students are competing for basic jobs then people are going to start hiring those with college degrees and the high school graduates will be the ones in trouble.
“Generation Screwed” also states that people have put off their marriage or having a baby and moving back to their parent’s house. I want to have children in the future but I don’t want to be very old when that happens. I am planning to work will going to school and earn enough money to buy my own house. With the scholarships and grants, I’ll hopefully get, it will help me with all my needs in school. The money I’ll save will be used for living needs. I want to own a house and I don’t care if it’s small, as long as I am happy and comfortable where I live.
Even if I can’t find a job that suits my career, I know that I already have my degree ready to be used when a job opportunity come up. Having a degree means that I am well educated and prepared to work in that specific field. I want to have a full-time job that is related to my career, but I am also willing to work in a basic job because in order to get what I want, I need money and I can’t wait around for the perfect job to pop up.
I know that everything is not easy to get, but I need to be focused in order to overcome my obstacles. As long as I do not quit and keep working hard I know that I can achieve my dream. All the hard work that I put in will all be worth it in the end because I will live a good stable life.

College Entrances

Many seniors believe that it is ok to fail or drop their classes because it is their last year of high school and they are going to graduate anyways. After their grades have fallen they are surprised and angry that the college they were planning to go to has rejected them. I agree with the colleges who take away entrance to those seniors who fail or drop their classes. I believe that seniors should work hard to earn their entrance to college. It is not fair that some students who do not work hard get accepted and not those who actually put time in their work and has overcome many obstacles.

Students need to work hard on all their four years of high school so that they will be prepared for college. They will not have most of the things that they have in high school and they need to learn that once they go to college they are all on their own. Students need to be responsible for their own work; they need to know that is it all up to them to do what they got to do. If students are dropping their grades in their senior year, they can or will do it in some of their college classes. Colleges want students who are smart and responsible and know how to make use of their college life. Students will have a hard time in college if they rely on their high school ways. College entrances should be given only to those who will actually benefit from their education.

College is not a place to be messing around with and should be taken seriously because in the end the only person that will be affected is you. Senior year is the most important year of high school where students should work very hard to prove that they can be responsible and a great representer of that college.

Senior Year Highlights

The things that I am looking forward to is spending the last year of high school with my friends. I am looking forward to seeing all the last rallies of the year, and actually sitting on the senior section of the gym. The most important highlight of my senior year is walking across the stage and getting my diploma. Wearing my cap and gown and realizing that high school is over and it is time to start your career.
